Madera y el Corcho centra sus investigaciones en la anatom\u00eda de la madera, las propiedades de la madera, el corcho, la celulosa y sus productos derivados y la optimizaci\u00f3n de los procesos industriales de dichos productos.<br \/>Posee una xiloteca con m\u00e1s de 2000 muestras macrosc\u00f3picas y 1500 preparaciones microsc\u00f3picas, patrones de referencia a nivel mundial para la identificaci\u00f3n de especies. En su laboratorio de f\u00edsica de la madera cuenta con una bater\u00eda de bancos de sorci\u00f3n para\u00a0 estudiar el comportamiento higrosc\u00f3pico de la madera y sus caracter\u00edsticas termodin\u00e1micas a fin de optimizar los procesos industriales en los que el secado juega un importante papel. El estudio de las propiedades mec\u00e1nicas de la madera, corcho, celulosa y productos derivados es otra de sus l\u00edneas de investigaci\u00f3n, apoyada transversalmente por otra fuerte l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n transversal en inteligencia artificial permite desarrollar modelos de simulaci\u00f3n y optimizaci\u00f3n de los procesos de fabricaci\u00f3n reduciendo costes sin mermar sus propiedades.
